Cancer is NOT contagious. Support of the family
IS contagious and very much needed from everyone including friends,
neighbors, and entire communities. When you know a child who is
diagnosed with cancer, be the first one to offer support - others
will follow!
Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of children ages 0-14
in North America.
In South Carolina, there are between 150-200 new
cases of pediatric cancer per year. This number has increased 1%
every year for the past 20 years.
About 4,000 children die from cancer a year.
That's 11 children every single day, every single year.
Approximately 78%
of all children diagnosed with cancer will survive.
Leukemia
is the most common and the most curable form of pediatric cancer. |
