A Little Goes A Long Way!
Could you imagine watching your child fight cancer and worrying how you are going to pay your mortgage or electric bill? While we all struggle in today’s economy, remember the families out there who have a child fighting cancer and make a difference in their lives. Support your local non-profit organization, Children’s Chance and their mascot Zig the Pig, and make a difference in the lives of children fighting cancer and their families throughout South Carolina. Children’s Chance is a non-profit organization formed on September 25, 1996 by two mothers who had daughters battling cancer. Children’s Chance assists children with cancer and their families in South Carolina with non-medical needs.

Groucho's Classic Deli is Great!
Our friends at Groucho's Classic Deli have been gracious to sponsor lunch for the Children's Chance 2008-2009 Lunch & Learn series! This series is for families who have a child with cancer to learn topics that will help them during and after their child's medical crisis.
The History of Groucho's Harold "Groucho" Miller came to Columbia in 1941 with a handful of original recipes for potato salad, cole slaw and various salad and sandwich dressings, most of which were thought up during his childhood in a Philadelphia orphanage. These humble beginnings along with the idea that "quality is the most important ingredient in a sandwich," have let Groucho's to a legendary status.
Ivan Miller, son of the late Harold Miller, recollected in an interview with the Columbia Record in 1986, "When Pop first opened this Store, Columbia was a small town, and everything had a label. Here he (Harold Miller) was this really crazy kind of guy. Always, joking. Always had a big cigar. A mustache. He looked like Groucho Marx, he talked like Groucho Marx, and to Columbia, he WAS Groucho Marx. So that's how the name cam about."
Over the past 60 years, Groucho's has held true to the idea of using only the highest quality products. Groucho's is now dedicated to providing its delicious recipes to the people of Columbia.
