 “Kids Kicking for Cancer” at the 9th Annual CAPS Soccer Clinic

Hosted by USC and the YMCA to benefit Children’s Chance and help kids with cancer!

Columbia, SC: February 16-17, 2008 - The 9th Annual CAPS (child and parent) Soccer Clinic will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 16-17 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse on Whaley Street.  Hosted by the USC Men's Varsity Soccer Team & Coaches, and the Columbia YMCA to benefit Children’s Chance, the CAPS clinic teaches children ages 4-14 of all levels of play and their parents, the game of soccer in a fun and unique way.

 

“It’s a great opportunity to give something back to the game and give something back to the community, “Head Coach Mark Berson states.  “Each year, we’ve raised around $3,000 to help kids fighting cancer right here in the Midlands.  We are privileged to be part of this special organization.”

Throughout the nine years of CAPS existence, close to $20,000 has been raised to help SC families who have a child with cancer.

 

Participants may register in advance by contacting David Snodgrass of the YMCA at 803-799-7159, ext. 23. If you register by February 9th your child will receive a special event t-shirt sponsored by Eat More Tees and Children’s Chance. On-Site registration is also available, although a t-shirt cannot be guaranteed. The event costs $50.00 for YMCA members and $60.00 for non-members. Media is also welcome!

 

Children's Chance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the financial, psychological, and emotional needs of South Carolina children and families affected by pediatric cancer.  Proceeds from the CAPS clinic will fund a variety of programs to assist these families during their child's cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
