Local Bi-Lo stores Rally Customers
To help SC children fighting cancer & their families
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Columbia, SC: May 16th, 2007- Children’s Chance is teaming up with four local Bi-Lo stores to help children fighting cancer throughout South Carolina and their families. From Wednesday, May 16th through Friday, June 1st, the following four Bi-Lo locations will be doing their annual Charity Classic Scan Card fundraiser where they ask customers to donate $1.00 at the register to the cause: the Cayce Bi-Lo location which is in Parklane Plaza, the West Columbia Bi-Lo location which is on #1 HWY/Augusta Road in the Westside Plaza shopping center, the Garner’s Ferry Bi-Lo location, and the Lexington Bi-Lo location on Columbia Avenue. These local Bi-Lo stores will kick off this annual fundraiser in conjunction with the Bi-Lo Charity Golf Classic which is held every year in Greenville, as a way to raise money for non-profits on a local level.
Samantha Higgins, Public Relations Director of Children’s Chance states, “We are so excited to team up with these local Bi-Lo stores to help raise money and awareness for children fighting cancer right here in South Carolina. It’s wonderful that Bi-Lo is so involved in the community and steps up to support local non-profits such as Children’s Chance to really make a difference. I would like to encourage consumers to visit these local Bi-Lo stores and donate that dollar to help these children who are battling cancer”.
Bi-Lo has more than 23,000 associates, many who are involved in their respective communities as scout leaders, little league coaches, tutors, mentors, Sunday School teachers, board members, and in many other ways. In addition to supporting charities on the local level through the many different Bi-Lo locations, Bi-Lo is very proud of the Charity Golf Classic which gives financial support to hundreds of charities serving thousands in need. Local Bi-Lo stores are proud to have raised $62,293 last year for non-profits on a local level, and Children’s Chance is very excited to be a part of this year’s fundraising efforts.
Founded in 1996, Children’s Chance is the only statewide non profit organization that is dedicated to providing children facing cancer and their families with non-medical financial, emotional, and, psychological support. Proceeds from the Bi-Lo scan fundraiser will fund our financial assistance for families who have a child with cancer in South Carolina including the Discretionary funds which help families pay non medical bills such as mortgage or electric payments, and Angel Funds which provide families with small out of pocket expenses to make their trips to the clinic a little easier, such as gas or food cards.
