Children’s Chance Awarded $10,000 from the BlueCross BlueShield Foundation
To Help SC Children with Cancer and their Families!
Columbia, SC: December 28th, 2007- On January 1st, Children’s Chance will team up with the BlueCross BlueShield Foundation of South Carolina to receive a $10,000 grant to fund the Discretionary and Angel Funds programs to help South Carolina children fighting cancer and their families with non-medical needs.
“The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation is pleased to make this award to Children’s Chance for the benefit of families with children who are valiantly fighting cancer,” said Foundation Executive Director Harvey L. Galloway. “Children’s Chance is a well run organization that provides a valuable service to South Carolina families so they can concentrate on healthcare rather than finances during a stressful time in their lives.”
Samantha Higgins, Public Relations Director explains, “We are very excited to accept this grant from the BlueCross BlueShield Foundation to help fund the Discretionary and Angel Funds programs for children battling cancer in South Carolina. This award could not come at a more appropriate time, as families always struggle especially during the holiday season to keep their family intact and focus on getting their child well. The bills never stop coming and Children’s Chance is proud to be there to assist these families during their fight with pediatric cancer.”
Founded in 1996, Children’s Chance is the only statewide non profit organization that is dedicated to providing children facing cancer and their families with non-medical financial, emotional, and, psychological support. Proceeds from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation grant will be used for The Discretionary Funds Program which assists families with non-medical bills including rent, mortgage, electric bills, car payments, or car repairs, and the Angel Funds Program which helps families with out of pocket expenses such as gas and food cards.
