Palmetto’s Thrift store donates 50% of all profits to Children’s Chance to help Kids with Cancer

Columbia, SC: February 7^th, 2008 – Children’s Chance is excited to partner with Palmetto’s Thrift store to receive 50% of all profits from the newly opened retail thrift shop located at 7539 St. Andrews Road behind Lizard’s Thicket in Irmo. Palmetto’s Thrift Store will team up with the Irmo Chamber of Commerce and Children’s Chance on Thursday, February 7^th to host their Grand Opening Celebration from 5:30-7:00. Events of the Grand Opening Celebration include a ribbon cutting ceremony, a special appearance by Children’s Chance ambassador Zig the Pig, refreshments, prizes, and special sales. The event is open to the public and media are invited to attend. Palmetto’s Thrift store opened their doors on November 2, 2007 and they are not only dedicated to helping the community in which they are located by offering an affordable, clean store for patrons, but also by donating 50% of their profits to Children’s Chance to help families throughout the Palmetto state who have children fighting cancer.

Heather Harrelson, owner of the newly opened Palmetto’s Thrift store explains, “I am so excited to have our doors open and to be out in the community helping these kids in our state who are fighting cancer. It is very important to help families in need and I am proud to do that with Palmetto’s Thrift store. Children’s Chance is such a worthy cause – helping children with cancer, and I hope that through my store, I can make a big impact on these family’s lives and help such a great organization”.

Palmetto’s Thrift store is now accepting donations of the following items: clothing (men’s, women’s, and children’s), house wares, furniture, toys, books, linens, jewelry, pocketbooks, shoes, and accessories. Stop by the store anytime Mon – Fri between 9 am and 6 pm or Sat from 9 am to 5 pm to donate your items (your donation is tax-deductible) or call 803-781-1335 to use their pick up service. The store also offers great deals on name brand, high quality, pre-owned items including men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and accessories, toys, household items, books, furniture, and more!

Children's Chance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the financial, psychological, and emotional needs of South Carolina children and families affected by pediatric cancer.  Proceeds from Palmetto’s Thrift Store will fund a variety of programs to assist these families during their child's cancer diagnosis, treatment, and either recovery or end of life.
