Family Support Funds Program

The Family Support Funds Program (formerly known as the Discretionary Funds Program) helps to relieve the financial burden families face during a child's cancer treatment, and allows families to stay intact and focus on helping their child recover. Some of the ways these funds have assisted families are through paying non medical bills such as mortgage/rent payments, electric bills, car insurance, car repairs, and other non-medical, everyday expenses.

Funds are distributed through the Children's Chance office and are paid directly to the vendor. Children's Chance works closely with the social workers at pediatric oncology clinics throughout the state including Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, The Medical University of Charleston, and The Children's Hospital of Greenville, as well as with families directly to ensure that the Discretionary Funds Program helps as many families in South Carolina who have a child with cancer as possible.

In order to be eligible for the Discretionary Program your family needs to meet the following criteria:
Resident of South Carolina
Child with cancer must be between the ages of 0-18
Child with cancer must be either currently in treatment or less than one year off treatment

If your family is interested in finding out how you can access the Discretionary Funds Program, please contact the office at (803) 254-5996 or email to: childrenschance@childrenschance.org
